You are ambitious, a natural leader, capable and intelligent. The roles you hold are powerful in your life, sometimes creating strain, but also a source of motivation for growth and a sense of purpose. You do a lot; working, leadership, business owner, taking care of clients, or family manager. You’re in a position that puts you in charge of many things and/or people and yet you find yourself often feeling anxious, over-functioning, holding-back, exhausted, and people pleasing- where did that feeling of ease and empowerment go?
As someone who can get so much done, you’re finding it’s getting harder to say ‘no’ to others and notice you worry about upsetting people in your life. People perceive you as confident, so your anxiety, fear, and insecurity is invisible; you’re aware you feel afraid to be assertive, or you fear not being liked. It’s easy for you to present as empowered, but at night you’re replaying conversations in your mind, imagining worst case scenarios or reliving a tension filled conversation.
People turn to you for support, advice, a compassionate ear, but right now you feel drained, frustrated and resentful because having your needs taken care of doesn’t seem to matter. Maybe you want to explode in anger, or shut down with despair, but asking for what you need, let alone what you want is uncomfortable. You’re just feeling “off”. Muscle tension & a clenched jaw, is a way of life; massages never last long enough. Your body, sleep & energy levels feel different from what they used to be; feeling both revved up, but also drained at the same time, on edge. What normally helped you manage this in the past doesn’t seem to help much anymore.
You notice the worry of disappointing or upsetting certain people shows up regularly. It feels like a big risk to say what you need, change a plan, or share your opinion - “what if they won’t like me?”, “what if they think I’m a bad person?” “what if they think I’m too much, too bossy, demanding, not nice enough, TOO MUCH?” Self-doubt and insecurities persist; but how to move on? You know about boundaries, but implementing them can feel harrowing at times, how will the other person react!?. You want your business to grow, your team to evolve, your practice to support you more, and the intersection of your personal world with your work is feeling increasingly uncomfortable.
You miss feeling empowered, grounded, centered most of the time, like the capable woman you are, but when engaging with certain people in your life, it’s like you’re catapulted into a younger version of yourself - you wonder, “why is this still happening?”
When it comes to your inner life, the soulful part of you has taken a back seat for a long time now, missing a sense of awe or wonder with the world. Your work roles have taken over and play feels like a distant fantasy, or maybe something you never had time for. You yearn to feel connected not just in relationships but also, to the parts of you that seem buried or feel lost. You just want to feel better -to have your life force energy back. Remembering who you are deep down, beyond the roles you hold is something you want to experience, but you’re not sure how to get there.
If you relate to some of this, welcome. Let’s talk. First of all, you’re not alone. Second of all, how about some support just for YOU.
